Secret screening for Wakefield’s vaccine movie following ban

A screening of Vaxxed, the film directed by Andrew Wakefield, is going ahead at a secret venue in London on February 14—after it was pulled from another cinema that had been targeted by protestors. It will also be screened at the European Parliament on Thursday (February 9th) and in Paris next week.

The film was due to have its UK premiere at the Curzon Cinema in London’s Soho followed by a question-and-answer session with Wakefield, who lost his medical licence after publishing a paper that suggested a link between the MMR vaccine and autism.

Although the cinema had been hired by the European Forum for Vaccine Vigilance (EFVV), the management decided to pull it after receiving protests from pro-vaccine lobbyists.

The EFVV has now found another venue and the screening is going ahead, and the film will also be shown to the European Parliament and at a private venue in Paris on February 13th.

The film was controversially pulled from last year’s Tribeca film festival in New York following protests.

The film centres on the discovery of data, ‘lost’ by America’s Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), which had found a link between autism and the MMR, just as Wakefield had suggested in 1998.
