On Monday 15 June, Commissioner Stella Kyriakides, in charge of Health and Food Safety, will address the members of the EU Platform on Food Losses and Food Waste at its 8th meeting, where the recently adopted Farm to Fork Strategy will be presented.
Reducing food loss and waste is an integral part of the strategy, which proposes actions to help accelerate the EU's progress towards the global Sustainable Development Goal of halving food waste by 2030. The morning session will provide the opportunity to get up to speed with work carried out on sustainable food systems at international level and planned activities for the 1st International Day on Food Losses and Food Waste, on 29 September 2020. The afternoon session will be dedicated to sharing experiences on food loss and waste prevention initiatives taken in the context of the Covid-19 crisis, as well as other actions carried out by the Commission and Platform members (notably Member States, private sector organisations).
