Copper is already been used in some hospitals as a powerful antiseptic—and researchers believe it could also be effective against the Covid-19 virus.

Taking copper supplements—or eating more copper-rich foods, such as leafy vegetables, nuts and organ meats—could protect against infection, say researchers from Oslo University in Norway. It's a proven killer of other viruses, such as bronchitis, polio, HIV and MRSA, and it could be just as effective against Covid-19. Copper could also be used as a cleaning agent on surfaces where the virus may have settled.

In a separate study, researchers from Athens University are planning to test copper with NAC (N-acetylcysteine) in combination against the virus. They say that earlier studies have shown both to be effective virus killers.
